Keep your skin good if you want your brain to be young and healthy.

Brain, skin and skin appendages develop from the embryonic ectoderm. They have the same genetic material, but the genetic code is interpreted differently in both.  Both change dramatically as the people age.    There is a well established connection between skin and brain, for example stress can trigger or worsen skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, atopic dermatitis.  Skin is highly innervated in accordance with its role as the "diffuse brain". There is an array of neuropeptides localized in the skin like catecholamines, substance P, Calcitonin generated peptide( CGP) Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and nerve growth factor (NGP).       There is a great amount of communication happening between your nervous system, your immune system and your skin.  If you want to live a long life and keep your brain intact and young and strong, learn to keep your skin happy and healthy. Keep your skin clean, healthy, well moisturized and stable in all psyc...

Salt in our diet

Salt in our diet   Last few decades there has been an undue noise about eating less salt. There is no study which has proved that consumption of more salt leads to cardiovascular damage and heart attacks or heart failure. The obsession was followed pretty blindly. You can read the whole text book by James Discolantonio "The Salt Fix" and many more such books. Salt is a basic ion of sodium- potassium -ATPase pump for creating the initial action potential of any cell before the cell sets into its specified function. Normal daily intake of salt should be at least 5 to 6 grams per day. Lately it has been found that hyponatremia is a very common diagnosis in our emergency wards and also a common cause of death, specialy with the rampant use of diuretics and other drugs. This is definitely attributed to the overenthusiastic sodium control in our diet. Today we are very clear that we need sufficient salt in our diet which is basically autocontrolled.   A...

Why do we not change ourselves after getting fully motivated?

You have been listening to a large number of Satsang talks. You get extremely motivated. You go home in the same motivation. After a day or two you are back to your original state and original attitude.   Because your subconscious mind is too big and too strong and it easily takes over your conscious mind and keeps your attitude back to where you are.
